Cleanbill 2024 Blue Report – Regional Breakdown
On 8 January 2024, Cleanbill released its 2024 Blue Report. The Report was the first in Australian history to provide an independent, year-on-year assessment of the accessibility of general practice care across the country.
Its figures have defined the national healthcare debate ever since.
But the Report only broke down the statistics by State and Territory and one of the biggest questions we got after it was released was how the figures broke down within States and Territories.
We were curious too. And, with our full Electorate Breakdown still not ready, we decided to at least provide a city-country breakdown of the stats within each State.
So, that’s what this report is.
The Regional Breakdown Report takes the statistics we compiled for the 2024 Blue Report and steps them out and splits them by clinics located within each State’s capital city and those located in the rest of the State.
We broadly found that bulk billing rates are highest in our cities, while out-of-pocket costs are highest outside of them. This means that, with some exceptions, you’re more easily able to find a bulk billing GP clinic within your State’s capital city and, even if you can’t, you’ll be charged less to see a GP in your capital than in the rest of your State.
